Telegram is where leaked material spreads fastest in the Gulf: channels with thousands of members, groups that mirror each other within minutes, and bots that resend on request. Removal is possible. It is just not the way people expect, and the first hour is spent on the wrong things.
What Telegram removes
- Public channels, public groups and bots that share intimate images without consent, that impersonate you, or that publish content unlawful where it is hosted.
- Individual messages in public channels, when the report points at the exact message.
- It does not moderate private chats or private groups. Those are handled through the people in them, the platform the material came from, and the authorities.
The order that works
- Save the links first. On a channel message, choose Copy Link. Save the channel address, the message links, and screenshots with the date. Mirrors appear and originals vanish, and you need the record.
- Report inside the app: the channel from its profile, and each message from its menu, choosing the reason that fits.
- Write to abuse@telegram.org with the links, one sentence on who you are and what the material is, and one piece of proof that you are the person. Short and exact is what gets read.
- Fingerprint the images at StopNCII.org if you are over 18 in them, or Take It Down if you were under 18. Telegram is not a partner, but Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit and Snapchat are, and that is where the copies go next.
- Ask Google to remove the images from its results through its removal form, so the material stops being findable even while the channels are still up.
- Watch. A channel that is removed comes back under a new name within days. Keep reporting, in the same order, until it stops being worth their effort.
What does not work
- Paying the channel admin to delete it. The material is reposted, and the price goes up.
- Services that promise to have someone at Telegram. There is no such person.
- Joining the channel from your own account to watch it. It puts you in their member list.
